That is an English idiom that means he strongly agrees with them, they represent his belief system.
To sign up to something is to signify you support. In a war, when the government asks for volunteers, they ask you to sign up. Typically this is done in support of the ideals of the nation.
(If we forget about the grinding poverty of many recruits... but, historically, there are many people who "sign up" to support the philosophical system that they think they understand and espouse, or believe in and proclaim to be true.)
However..just playing with Dave, )- this was not difficult to translate.I feel little disapointed.
